In recent years, TBS has strategically expanded into renewable energy by actively exploring and developing various renewable power projects. In 2020, TBS, through its subsidiary PT Toba Bara Energi (TBAE), strengthened its renewable energy portfolio by acquiring ownership in PT Adimitra Energi Hidro (AEH), responsible for developing a 2x3 MW Mini Hydro Power Plant (PLTM) in Lampung Province, and PT Bayu Alam Sejahtera (BAS), currently exploring opportunities for a Wind Power Plant (PLTB) project in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.
TBS has also advanced its renewable energy initiatives by developing the Tembesi Project, a floating solar power plant located in Batam, developed in collaboration with PLN Nusantara Power. It is expected to contribute to Indonesia's renewable energy mix by utilizing innovative floating solar technology. With an installed capacity of 46 MWp, this power plant will become one of Batam's significant renewable energy innovations. Following the Financial Closing Date in late 2024, the next step is to begin the construction phase, aiming for full commercial operation and integration into the national power grid by the fourth quarter of 2025.
Meanwhile, PT Adimitra Energi Hidro (AEH) in Lampung successfully achieved its Commercial Operation Date (COD) on January 22, 2025, marking its contribution to providing 6 MW of clean energy in the Sumbagsel region. Hydropower is a critical component of TBS's renewable energy strategy, offering stable and sustainable energy output that complements other intermittent renewable sources such as solar and wind energy. This hydro project will also positively impact the local community through infrastructure development, improved electricity access, and enhanced environmental conservation practices.
TBS remains committed to actively seeking new renewable energy opportunities, including potential greenfield projects and operational brownfield assets. The company's renewable energy pipeline encompasses hydro, wind, solar, biomass, and waste-to-energy initiatives, reflecting TBS’s comprehensive approach to supporting Indonesia’s energy transition and sustainable development goals.
